Mein Kaempfert

Miloslav Ladislav Geisler developed the ‘knack bass’ sound while working with Bert Kaempfert, James Last and Freddy Quinn. Although born in Prague, Czechoslovakia, he had been drafted into the German Air Force late during WW2, and while in a Danish POW camp, met Bert Kaempfert who had been in the German Navy.

They developed a musical friendship which would be key to providing the laid-back, relaxed Kaempfert musical style.

And thus the Nazis contributed positively, if unwittingly, to the present day easy-listening genre still popular with aged but enthusiastic zealots the world over.
