Little Sister

Here's a bit of rock and roll written by Doc Pomus, lyricist, and Mort Shuman, songwriter. Elvis Presley released this song as a double A-side along with "(Marie's the Name) His Latest Flame".

Van Credenza now interpret this number which deals with a young man who is baffled by women.

Flying Machine

"It has repeatedly been enquired why the visitors from Mars did not take wing without delay after their coming. They most certainly did use an airborne device for numerous days, but only for short voyages of a dozen or so of miles, in order to explore and cast their coal black residue."

Theme from the Monster Cult Mystery

The Monster Cult Mystery was a planned series based on a serpent-like Mayan god named Itzamna, or 'I', which is called upon to modern-day Chicago by a mysterious cult, this way back in 1973.

Roosting within the top of the Willis Tower (at the time Sears Tower), this awesome fiend begins drizzling blood -- from the bodies of window washers, building workers and rooftop sunbathers alike -- onto the streets of Chicago, with devastating consequences.

The pilot received highly negative reviews when it was shown via private cinema release thus was binned but through leaked tapes has gained a cult following over the years.

Harrogate Beach

This cover version was originally recorded as cassette only release in 1978 by the War Criminals, a popular punk combo hailing from Batley. Van Credenza has recorded their tribute following the death Larry Gujarat, influential bass player with the War Criminals.

It can safely be stated that this is the only song ever written which mentions all of Cheech and Chong, Disco Tex and his Sex-o-lettes, David Icke, Charles de Gaule, Bernard Manning, Lester Piggott, Brian Cox, Guy Fawkes, Denis Law, Kanye West , Peter Glade, Heinrich Himmler and the Glimmer Twins.

Kraftwerk visit Fife

Little Yellow Insects

The Bob Myers Trio, from Du Quoin, Illinois, first recorded Little Yellow Insects in a basement close to the site of the WDQN radio tower way back in 1966. Released initially only in the three states of Iowa, Illinois and Indiana, the song raced up local charts due to the infectious relentless beat which contrasted with country influenced chart music at that time. Beat music fans saw the number as a fun novelty tune, but soon Myers was to dampen any hope he had of making it as a pop star.

In an August 1966 interview for Billboard magazine, Myers chose to praise US foreign policy and the nation's involvement in Vietnam, called for the army to shoot all civil rights demonstrators, expressed sympathy for recently infamous mass murderer Charles Whitman who had gone on a shooting spree from the top of the University of Texas, and shed doubt over the authenticity of the US space program.

A quote from that interview by Myers: "The Bob Myers Trio's central conceit has always been about the intrinsic conflict of human nature. Things alter but at the end of the day stay the same. Of course, history always repeats itself. We never forget we are a part of what we talk about so we deliver everything with a sense of gravity."

'Little Yellow Insects' had been due for nationwide release in mid September, but The Bob Myers Trio was quickly dropped from radio rosters, and Myers quickly dropped off pop music's radar.

Red Light (Change to Black)

The slit drum and dumbek have been utilised, along with a classic trio of drums, bass and guitar to reproduce another obscure cult psychedelic number by The Lysergic.
++++++++++
Originally released to little acclaim in 1967, Van Credenza slipped into character with a near faithful cover of this number, the Studer J37, a four-track tape recorder, being employed via AKG D19 dynamic microphones.
++++++++++
And of course, the band dressed from that period to capture the atmosphere, while feasting on Old English Spangles and smoking Sweet Tobacco.

Are You a Boy or Are You a Girl?

Here, Van Credenza pays tribute to the trend setting Massachusetts band, The Barbarians.

With their 'beach pirate' look, Cape Cod's Barbarian's were one of the earliest transvestite groups to release a record, and possibly the first to have a minor hit. "Are You a Boy or Are You a Girl?" hit 55 in the US national charts almost 50 years ago, propelling cross dressing into the spotlight.

The band themselves were aficionados of Hermann Freiherr von Teschenberg, an Austrian who worked on the Scientific-Humanitarian Committee. von Teschenberg, a transvestite who fought against the stigma of cross dressing, had been influenced by Italian femminiellos, and he eventually settled in Italy, having been resident in Germany and England for a time.

Of course, in many cultures, transvestism is practiced for religious, traditional and ceremonial reasons. However, the Barbarians just liked ladies' clothes.

Jungle Rock

When William M. Mizell wrote a persistent jungle blues item which he thought would make good swingin' dance fare it was all about the jungle denizens doing the rock with a good sound and rhythm.

However, we suspect that the narrative in this tale is pure fiction. Accepting there may have been a jungle drummer, it’s certainly unlikely that a chimpanzee or any sort of monkey would be able to dance anything resembling the Suzie Q, which is a famous rock n roll dance step. A fox is expected to grab a rabbit at any opportunity, but again, the ‘bunny’ is more likely to be killed and eaten than given the prospect of a dance. A camel jitter buggin’? While achievable, yet again, this is stretching the bounds of plausibility.
Yet William M. Mizell, renaming himself ‘Hank’ then joined the church as a preacher man. A man of the cloth, but, it appears, a stranger to the truth.

Let's Spend The

Here, Van Credenza teams up with Kentucky Firewalker James Artist to undertake shamanistic rituals, spiritual events and Cherokee bodywork (3000-year-old Cherokee medicine).

Medicine Man James involves us with rolling thunder, as clouds fall from the sky and the waves sail backwards.

At The Foot Of The Mountain, in The Middle Of The Forest, lies The Great Rock.
No money: Let's Spend The
