Magpie Disco

The magpie is the only bird which enjoys seeing itself in a mirror: Pica Pica!

They are normally black and white: Heckle and Jeckle!

Magpie's are a songbird species from the crow family: discrow!

Do they have mental skills similar to those found in humans? Hmmmm, I hope not.

Walking on Titan

Made for a Slovakian TA3 channel's space exploration series, 'Walking on Titan' was used for various clips and the end credit sequence. Lifeforms are said to be more likely to exist on Titan than many other natural satellites or any other planetary body.

The Irish Baker (Variation)

Originally published as "Angelina the Baker" in 1850, this was an American bluegrass tune. The composer and lyricist was Stephen Foster.

Lyrics were:

Angeline the baker lives in our village green,
The way I always loved her beats all you ever seen.

Angeline the baker, her age is forty-three,
I bought her candy by the peck, and she won't marry me.

Her father is the miller, they call him Uncle Sam.
I never will forget her, unless I take a dram.

Angeline is handsome, Angeline is tall,
They say she sprained her ankle a-dancing at the ball.

She can't do hard work because she is not stout,
She bakes her biscuits every day, and pours the coffee out.

I'll never marry no other girl, no matter where I go.
I said I'd marry Angeline just twenty years ago.

The last time I saw her was at the county fair.
Her father run me almost home and told me to stay there.

It was then remodelled as an Irish Jig, and is now covered here by Van Credenza.

Historical event, maybe some day soon

History in the future: who knows?

Not many people thought thought. Not many thought.

Maybe some day soon, for hundreds of years.

A story with a sad beginning. The return of success.

Thanks.

Maybe some day soon, for hundreds of years.

Not Genetically Programmed

Coarse racist whisky drinking haggis and deep fried Mars bars eating bagpipe playing pale skinned ginger haired mean and dour kilt wearing woad painted genetically programmed Scots.

Van Credenza utilise basic instruments, bass, guitar and drums on this tune, plus a wind guitar, an unusual experimental virtual instrument first tested in Scotland: it is a thermo-acoustically controlled harmonic type generator.

Little Sister

Here's a bit of rock and roll written by Doc Pomus, lyricist, and Mort Shuman, songwriter. Elvis Presley released this song as a double A-side along with "(Marie's the Name) His Latest Flame".

Van Credenza now interpret this number which deals with a young man who is baffled by women.

Flying Machine

"It has repeatedly been enquired why the visitors from Mars did not take wing without delay after their coming. They most certainly did use an airborne device for numerous days, but only for short voyages of a dozen or so of miles, in order to explore and cast their coal black residue."

Kraftwerk visit Fife

Red Light (Change to Black)

The slit drum and dumbek have been utilised, along with a classic trio of drums, bass and guitar to reproduce another obscure cult psychedelic number by The Lysergic.
++++++++++
Originally released to little acclaim in 1967, Van Credenza slipped into character with a near faithful cover of this number, the Studer J37, a four-track tape recorder, being employed via AKG D19 dynamic microphones.
++++++++++
And of course, the band dressed from that period to capture the atmosphere, while feasting on Old English Spangles and smoking Sweet Tobacco.

as the sun still burns away

Ten Years After are sometimes illustrated as a ‘hard rock’ band, but this number was relatively easy to play.
*
That band got their name as they were formed a full decade after the ten day 1956 Hungarian Revolution. Two of the members of 10YA were massive Ferencváros fans.
*
To the song: allegedly Alvin Lee wrote “As the Sun Still Burns Away” not about the star at the centre of our solar system, but about the newspaper of, at that time, several years standing, which had published lurid details of the band’s partying habits. They wanted no-one to know: Ssssh.
*
“As the Sun Still Burns Away” is drawn from their 1970 album Cricklewood Green. Ferencváros play in green, hence the second part of the album name. The first, Cricklewood, is taken from the area in London from whence the band purportedly got their supplies.
*
In tribute to 10YA, Van Credenza is releasing a vinyl copy of this song, one side playing at 45rpm, the other at 78.
